Tristan
ghostboy
Age: 13
Tristan is a quiet, thoughtful boy who feels more at home with books than with people. He loves strange facts, history, and anything connected to the paranormal, with a particular fondness for vintage horror comics and black-and-white monster movies from the 1930's, '40s and '50s.
Following the death of his grandfather — the person he was closest to — Tristan struggles with grief and loneliness. His grandfather encouraged his creativity, urging him to draw, write, and record his ideas without fear or judgment. Before he passed away, he gave Tristan a journal, which has since become one of Tristan’s most treasured possessions. Its pages are filled with sketches, notes, and written entries documenting life in Mumbey, the strange events unfolding there, and the adventures he shares with his friends. The journal also serves as a private emotional outlet — a place for thoughts he finds difficult to say aloud.
At the same time, Tristan is adjusting to his parents’ separation and a move from the city to Mumbey with his mother. After arriving, he discovers an old, rusted caravan at the bottom of their garden. Though Jonathan quickly names it the “scary caravan,” Tristan claims it as his own. It becomes his safe space — a place to read, draw, write, and quietly process the world. Over time, it also becomes a shared headquarters for Tristan, Miranda, and Jonathan.
Reserved but deeply empathetic, Tristan forms strong emotional bonds. His sensitivity, creativity, and openness make him the emotional heart of the group — and perhaps the one most able to understand the ghosts of Mumbey, because he understands what it means to carry memory, loss, and the ache of missing someone who is gone.
Fun Fact:
How did Tristan get the nickname "ghostboy"?
Not long after moving into Mumbey, Tristan had his first ghostly encounter - a visit from a young girl named Alice at his caravan. When he told his friend Jonathan, he jokingly started calling him "ghostboy" The nickname stuck and still pops up now and then, usually when Jonathan is teasing him.
