Max and Rami

Max & Rami

Max and Rami is Jonathan’s favourite comic from the Ghostboy World universe. Each issue is a collection of short-form strips, illustrated in a whimsical pen style with minimal colour. The stories follow Max, a quiet boy who creates Rami—his imaginary friend, guardian, and constant companion. When Max feels lonely or overwhelmed, Rami is there to listen, to protect, and to pull him into playful, imaginative adventures. Lighthearted and emotionally honest, the comic is a fun, comforting, and deeply relatable read, beloved for its gentle humour, simple art style, and the universal wish for someone who is always there when you need them.

Max & Rami

Most of us, at some point in childhood, created an imaginary friend. Sometimes they had wild hair and superhero capes. Sometimes they were invisible. And sometimes they were simply the quiet voice in our head that helped us make sense of things when the world felt too big. As children, we don’t always have the words for anxiety, loneliness, or change — so we create something gentler. Someone who sits beside us when the playground feels overwhelming. Someone who helps us carry feelings we don’t yet understand. These friends aren’t silly or strange. They are brave little inventions of the heart — proof that even when life feels uncertain, we are already finding ways to take care of ourselves.

And for Max, that friend had a name — Rami. Their story is just beginning.

(Fun fact: this is Jonathan from ghostboy World’s favourite comic strip — and yes, he may be a little biased.)
